Lester Sill, George Motola and Lee Silver formed the publishing partnership Silmo Music, while managing The Pentagons in 1961.  The San Bernardino, CA doo-wop group had already published under the name The Shields, which conflicted with a Los Angeles band who had a hit that year. The Pentagons had two 1961 hits, "To Be Loved (Forever)" and "I Wonder ("If Your Love Will Ever Belong To Me)" written by Kenneth Goodloe, Joe Jones, Carl Mc Ginnis, Willie Munson and Theodore Goodloe Jr. The group's most iconic hit would become "To Be Loved (Forever)", the regional hit was picked up nationally by Donna Records -- an appearance on Dick Clark's American Bandstand sent the song to a #48 on the pop chart.

Donna Records also picked up the group's next single, "I Like the Way You Look at Me" with "Down at the Beach" on the B-side. "Down at the Beach" became a  hit, but this occurred two years after its recording. The group then signed with Jamie Records, with whom Lester Sill had connections. Other notable Pentagon songs releases include "I'm In Love", "Until Then", "She Loves Me" and Ricky Nelson covered "I Wonder ("If Your Love Will Ever Belong To Me)", the B-side to "The Very Thought of You" (peaking at #11 on Billboard) in 1964. As a group, The Pentagons broke up in 1962
